I hope you will take a few moments to allow me to introduce myself.

More than twenty years ago, I worked my way through college and then medical school at Chapel Hill with an idealistic hope of making a difference.

I chose Obstetrics and Gynecology because it allowed me to care for others during important transitions - puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. And I liked that OB/GYN emphasized regular annual care, helping women lead happier and healthier lives. Additionally, I was attracted to the variety of skills this specialty requires.

The past two decades of caring for patients and myself have taught me many lessons, which I am comfortable sharing. Experience has taught me that we must care for each other and ourselves with open minds and with great compassion. Changes in medicine, healthcare, and the world have caused me to offer new services and new perspectives in my practice.

I have learned that there is so much more to the art of medicine than "just the facts." Knowing where one has been and where one desires to go in life's journey is also important. I have learned to listen to my patients, to hear what they feel and what they want.

I treasure my returning patients and welcome new ones. The practice offers -- at no charge -- the opportunity for you to come in for an informal chat, which will allow you to decide if you would be comfortable with me as your physician.
